Furnace Installation & Replacement

A furnace is a 15- to 20-year investment, and how it's installed matters as much as which one you buy. Evergreen Electrical & Mechanical replaces worn-out furnaces and installs new heating systems in homes, shops and businesses across Prowers County and Southeast Colorado. We handle the furnace, the venting and the electrical work in one job, with one local crew accountable for all of it.

Signs it's time to replace your furnace

  • The furnace is 15 years old or older
  • Repairs are getting more frequent and more expensive
  • Heating bills keep climbing while comfort drops
  • Some rooms are always too cold or too hot
  • A technician has found a cracked heat exchanger
  • You're adding central air and want the systems matched

Furnace options we install

  • High-efficiency gas furnaces (95%+ AFUE). Condensing furnaces turn nearly all of their fuel into heat. They're the best choice when lowering monthly gas bills is the priority.
  • Standard-efficiency gas furnaces (80% AFUE). These cost less up front and are sometimes the practical choice when venting or space is limited.
  • Propane (LP) furnaces. For farms, ranches and rural homes without natural gas service.
  • Electric furnaces. A simple option for homes and shops without gas or propane.
  • Dual-fuel systems. A heat pump paired with a gas or propane furnace. The heat pump covers mild days, and the furnace takes over in the deep cold.
  • Variable-speed and two-stage models. Quieter, more even heat and better humidity control.

We aren't tied to one manufacturer. We install and service equipment from many leading brands, so we can recommend the furnace that fits your home and budget.

Sized and set up for your home and our elevation

A furnace that's too big short-cycles, wears out faster and leaves cold spots. One that's too small runs nonstop on the coldest nights. We size your new furnace with a heat-load calculation based on your home's square footage, insulation, windows and ductwork, not just the size of the old unit. Lamar sits at about 3,600 feet, so we also set up each gas furnace to the manufacturer's high-altitude requirements for safe, efficient burning.

The electrical side is built in

Because we're electricians, the wiring is done right the first time. That includes a dedicated furnace circuit, a proper disconnect, a new or rewired thermostat, and condensate pump wiring when needed. If your panel is full or outdated, we can upgrade it during the same project.

How furnace replacement works

  • In-home estimate. We look at your current system, ductwork and venting, and talk about your comfort and budget goals.
  • Load calculation and options. We size the system and give you a written quote with clear options.
  • Permits and scheduling. We pull any required permits and schedule the install. Most straight replacements take one day.
  • Installation. We remove and haul away the old furnace, then install the new unit, venting, gas connection, condensate drain and wiring.
  • Startup and testing. We check gas pressure, combustion, temperature rise, airflow and safety controls.
  • Walkthrough. We show you how to use the thermostat and change the filter, and we register your warranty.

Replacing your AC at the same time?

If your air conditioner is also more than 10–12 years old, replacing both together can save on labor and gives you a matched system. It also ensures the indoor coil and blower are designed to work together. See air conditioning installation and replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most gas furnaces last about 15 to 20 years with regular maintenance. If yours is in that range and needs a major repair, it's usually worth comparing the repair cost to a replacement.

Most straight replacements are done in one day. Jobs that need new venting, ductwork changes or electrical upgrades can take longer, and we'll tell you up front.

The right size depends on your home's square footage, insulation, windows and ductwork, not the size of your old furnace. We do a heat-load calculation to size the new system correctly.

For most homes that heat with natural gas or propane, yes. Our winters are long enough that the fuel savings add up over the furnace's life. We'll compare 80% and 95% options for your home so you can decide.
